Quirky Food Habits

We all have our quirky habits... and there's no exception when it comes to how and what we eat. Some people are picky eaters and some are just quirky altogether - no matter what the reason I love hearing about other peoples' weird food habits.

I'll start with some of mine:

- I freeze my gummy candy before eating
- I pick the dough out of my bread (I credit my mom for this one)
- I like to wrap a banana with sliced American cheese as a snack - sounds gross but Mr. Rogers taught me this!
- I eat the broth part of a soup first then the 'chunks'
- Potato chips inside a sandwich or bagel & cream cheese

What are some of your quirky, strange or weird food habits? From not letting your food touch to taking a sip of water after each bite... I want to hear them all!

  3. I grew up eating banana and mayonaise sandwiches. Even though I think it's gross now, every now and then I crave one. Also, I like to freeze Reese's Cups before eating them.

    1. Banana and mayo? Interesting! I agree, I think the banana cheese combo is gross but every once in a blue moon I'll have one :)

Guess I'm not the only one who freezes candy! I like to freeze milky ways too!

  4. I like to eat tart jams by the spoonful and get intense cravings for vinegar...! Potato chips inside a sandwich, especially ham and cheese were standard behaviour at parties when I was growing up. Who doesn´t love that!

    1. YUM! I also like vinegar or anything tart. Sometimes I slice up a lime and just eat it by the wedge. I don't this my dentist likes that very much!

  6. I hate it when foods touch each other on my plate. This is terrible at Thanksgiving when there are so many items, I basically need a personal platter so I can make sure nothing touches :) Oh and agree, potato chips in sandwiches is genius!

  8. I eat the same food for lunch at work every single workday!!!
Baby leaf lettuce from a specific stand @ farmers market, with no dressing!! Plus a handful of raw walnuts and a couple of fruits. It is eating for sustenance & cheap!! Coworkers make serious fun of my habit.

  9. I thought of another one for myself. If I grab a handful of m&ms or any colored candy, there can't be more than one of each color in the handful or else I pick them out! Am I nuts?!

  10. I like the yellow and red m&ms the most!!!!!!

  11. Well, let's see... I have never had coffee or tea in my life, and I drink hit cocoa every morning - even in the summer! Oh, and I only eat chocolate on days that end with "y!"

    1. Um, that would be "hot" cocoa! (I hate autocorrect!)

  12. Not sure if it's quirky or just less common, but I like bread crusts and the crispy rice at the bottom of the rice cooker. Most people seem to be not so keen so I happily oblige!

    1. We actually have a name for the crispy rice at the bottom in our culture and it's the most prized part! It's called Tahdig - I will be writing about it soon. :)

  14. I love the flavor of onion but hate actually eating chunks of onion. I pick all visible onion out of food. I used to pick bell peppers out of food too, but I got over that one at some point.

    Happy early New Year!
